The Ken Griffey Jr. dunk contest was held in 1992. Many baseball stars, including DeShields and Sanders, have participated in the event. This year’s dunk contest featured some of those same baseball legends. Griffey landed three of his 630 career home runs.
A few of the players who competed were Deion Sanders, Barry Bonds and Chris Young. They would’ve dominated the competition. Some players were more natural at leaping than others, and they did a great job of it. Then there’s the 6-foot-10 Chris Young.
The dunk contest is a great way for athletes from different sports to show off their talents. Today, with social media allowing people to share what they’re doing, this contest is an excellent opportunity to showcase athletes’ skills. It also shows that athletes of all sports can compete at a high level.
While NBA stars have dominated the dunk contest, the contest has also drawn athletes from other sports. Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin, as well as track stars, have both won the dunk contest. In 1992, the event was held at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. The competition featured pro-athletes from all sports, including football and baseball players.
