The former LaCosta Lounge in the sea isle will remain part of the new Beach Bar. Its liquor license might not be revoked. But will the name LaCosta stay? That’s the question on many guests’ minds. The former LaCosta name will be retained, but the property may also have to change its brand. Here are a few questions to consider:
LaCosta Lounge space remains intact as part of the Beach Bar
The former LaCosta Lounge space is still in use for indoor events, and plans for the space are still a work in progress. Though there is some debate on whether the old building will be demolished, the Beach Bar is scheduled to open for business on July 16. If the liquor license transfer goes through, the LaCosta building will not be demolished. The construction will continue on the new Beach Bar at LaCosta Sea Isle while the City Council votes on transferring the LaCosta liquor license.
After being closed for several months, the LaCosta Lounge is getting a makeover. Once a raucous nightclub and liquor store, it is being converted to an all-suite hotel and banquet hall complex. Christopher Glancey, the new owner of the site, purchased the building in 2018 for $7 million and plans to build a new hotel and restaurant on the site.

The former liquor license to the Beach Bar may not be destroyed – at least not yet. Owners of the business are pursuing another plan to renovate the building. Embers representatives met with the Board of Licensed Commissioners last week. They plan to remove the upstairs bar and down and replace it with a courtyard. The building will be closed on three of its four sides, so the only entrance will be from the parking lot. The board recently approved the Taustin Group’s request to renovate the licensed premises.
